Psychology 101,
This is divided into 3 sections.

- using conditioning in tekken
Pavlov and classical conditioning
Pavlov was an animal nutritionist and was running an experiment on
eating habits of dogs. He had a timer set to go off when he was to feed
the animals. After some time, and as luck would have it, he noticed that
the dogs would salivate (drool) before they had their meal... (since
dog's don't don't have any way to know what feeding time was, all they had
was the bell... ) he put two and two together and figured out that the
dogs associated the dinging of the timer with food. When the timer went
off, the dogs autonomic (not consciously controlled) nervous system kicked
into feeding time and the dogs began drooling.
Now, it's not like the dogs knew that the bell meant dinner was
going to happen... it went deeper then that. The bell became dinner every
bit as much as the food itself. Pavlov dropped his eating habits study,
and began work on a psychological study on "conditioning the mind."
What starts to get really freaky is that classical conditioning is a
very effective way to train someone. How do you do it? With repeating a
process, and (to an extent) offering reinforcement. With the dogs, the
process was the bell and food. They associated the two because they were
never isolated. By always doing them both, (first bell, then food) the
dogs were more or less trained to drool when they heard the bell. What do
you think would happen if the good doctor just rang the bell, but didn't
give them any food? That would screw the dog up the first few times he did
it! Eventually, if the doctor rang the bell without giving the dogs food
they would forget that the bell and dinner go hand in hand and pretty much
forget the conditioning.
Train your teacher with psychology
Here's something fun to do if you have a pretty tight group of
classmates. Train your teacher to teach from the left side of the room.
When your teacher goes towards the right side of the room, yawn, talk to
your friends... basically, look disinterested. When you teacher goes
toward the left side of the room, everybody perk up, heads forward eyes
wide... look interested, and really pay attention. Think of it like a game
of hot & cold, when the teacher does something you want them to do, let em
know they are getting warmer (by giving them something they want, like
attention) if they start to do something that is not what you want, let em
know they are getting cold (by giving them something they don't want like
yawns, or just ignoring them)
Keep doing it, and pretty soon your teacher will almost be afraid to go to
the right side of the room. At this point, why not train your teacher to
hold onto a piece of chalk (or marker if your school has funding.) The
same rules apply, but, it goes a lot smoother if your teacher writes on
the blackboard (whiteboard, if you school has funding) a lot. Whenever
they are holding the chalk perk up, sit on the edge of your chair, look
interested... ask questions. When they put down the chalk look away,
doodle, slouch... go to sleep... look disinterested. You can pretty much
get your teacher to do whatever you want, and just think, you have the
whole year, or semester (it works in college too) to train them.
Using psychology in Tekken
So, that's just one of the many ways brainwashing ..er, conditioning
can influence your life. But what about tekken? Well, you can screw your
opponents with the same principles applied above. You can make your opponent
duck. Quickly run to them when you see an opening, now throw them.. .but
fast! Do that a lot, as many times as it takes for that person to realize
that every time you get in their face they should duck to avoid punishment.
Pretty soon they will duck every time you quickly get in their face too, it
just happens... so, when they duck, pop em up for a mean juggle. King has a
great jump kick, Paul can phoenix smasher (it hits mid), Mishimas can juggle
for maaad damage, Nina has the divine cannon, Bruce has the Bruce rush or
that elbow thing... You get the idea.
Or you could set up the throw (a great game for King.) Run up and
jump kick... but fast! now juggle them for some extra damage. Keep doing
that, if it wins matches... great! soon, however, your opponent will catch
on and realize that they can just stand there and block it (basically turtle
up) when they catch on, run up and throw their standing ass! But it only
works if you do it fast. The more time your opponent has to think, the more
time they have to escape. This actually works on a lot of levels... and with
a lot of moves. Look for the specific strategies in the character's section.
